Wade's Birthday

It all started out innocent enough, Shari, Eamon, Wade, myself and another Canadian we met, David, all went out for Wade’s birthday.

The first foreshadowing to a momentous evening was passing a street vendor selling fried up local delights. Our new friend David decided that we simply had to stop and take a picture and of course that led to the purchase of a plate of fried up silkworms, massive grasshoppers and other unidentified creatures. Here is a picture of the street cart.

Shari and I allowed the boys to make the purchase assuming that none of them would actually partake in the consumption of these local snacks. Lo and behold…our night soon evolved into Fear Factor. Now, this just wasn’t any Fear Factor…this was Accountants do Fear Factor. So of course the stunts were much wilder. Yes…a nerve racking game of Connect Four ensued. Here is a picture of Wade visibly stressed in regards to his next move. He is up against a formidable opponent…Eamon Brady.

Unfortunately, Lady Luck was not on the Birthday Boy’s side. Too bad Wade had picked out the biggest grasshopper of the bunch when the game began, convinced that Eamon would be eating it. Here is a picture of “Happy Wade” taking his loss like a man.

And here is a picture of “Unhappy Wade”…let’s hope he can hold it down.

Many more rounds ensued and as such each male participated in the consumption of bugs. The girls of course were much smarter, also helped by the fact that we were not drinking as much, and did not make bets where the consequences of losing were so dire.

Eamon was a formidable opponent and only lost once in the Fear Factor competition. Of course, this made Mr. Brady a little cocky and such he had to be knocked down to size. Here is the picture of shame of Eamon being beat by a girl.

Oh my goodness…can this picture be right? Did Eamon lose again?

And here is the “grand humiliation” of Eamon being slaughtered 4 to 1. Better take a closer look there Eamon …I think that bar maid sitting on your lap may not be a maid at all!

And just when you thought the excitement was dying down….all of a sudden Shari is trying to electrocute the Birthday Boy with a bug zapper. Just when you think you know who your friends are…

The Thai bar maids were in shock (no pun intented) at Wade’s sheer strength to handle the volts of electricity coursing through his body…well that or they were laughing at the stupidity of the Westerners.
